My dissertation research is exploring the experiences of the transition to the adult health care system for young adults resettled to the United States as refugees. My research interests include primary care, the transition from the pediatric to adult health care system, refugee health and integration, the impacts of community engagement on individual and community health for children and marginalized communities, and methods for community engagement in research and research agenda setting. In addition to pursuing my PhD in Health and Behavioral Sciences, I am an Instructor in Family Medicine and at the Adult and Child Consortium for Health Outcomes Research and Delivery Sciences (ACCORDS) on the University of Colorado Denver - Anschutz Medical Campus. I also serve as the Associate Director for Research and Engagement for the Colorado Children’s Outcomes Network (COCONet), a network of over 60 pediatric practices focused on answering research questions of clinical relevance to Colorado’s pediatrician community. I hold a bachelor of arts in International Studies and German Languages & Literature, a master of public administration with a focus in health policy, and a certificate in public health sciences.
