Keith Cooper has been working in tobacco prevention and control for over a decade at the local, state and national level. He began his career in public health as the Health Equity Coordinator for largest local health department in Colorado. While there, he provided culturally proficient education on the implications of Colorado’s Clean Indoor Air Act, conducted key informant interviews and coordinated community linkages within racial/ethnic communities experiencing high rates of tobacco-related health disparities. He spent four years with the American Lung Association as the Tobacco and Lung Health Programs Manager, overseeing state and federal grants to increase the reach of cessation programs in underserved communities. He served on the Colorado Inter-agency Health Disparities Leadership Council, and since 2015, Keith has been the Smoke-Free Policy Specialist for the State Tobacco Education and Prevention Partnership at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Originally from Michigan, Keith has a BA from Earlham College in Richmond, IN. He currently resides in Denver where he fills his free time frequenting live music venues and attending Broncos games with 76,000 of his closest friends.
