Amidst a growing opioid overdose epidemic, federal agencies and the state of Colorado have developed policies and laws to change opioid prescribing practices. This study examines the ways in which these policies represent the problem driving the opioid overdose epidemic through suggestions of what needs to change, and explores the implications of these problem representations for chronic pain patients prescribed opioids.

Shane Mueller

University of Colorado Denver
Shane Mueller is a PhD student in the Department of Health & Behavioral Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver. His research interests include substance use disorders, stigma, chronic pain and policy. Shane received his MSW from the University of Denver.
