Despite the increased suicide rate among older adults age 65 years and above, research and prevention efforts targeting this population are limited compared to those targeting other subpopulations. Using data from Colorado residents who died by suicide between 2013 and 2017, obtained by the Colorado Violent Death Reporting System (CoVDRS), we examine circumstances and risk factors associated with suicide among older adults and discuss the implications of these findings.
