I will discuss efforts within in the Colorado Environmental Public Health Tracking program to develop a more timely spatial and temporal disease surveillance process. Specifically, I will give a practical overview of Hierarchical Bayesian disease mapping techniques and will demonstrate the application of these techniques for monitoring asthma, COPD, heart attacks, and childhood lead poisoning.
