“'Use a Condom’ - That’s Not the Point, the Point is Sex”: Sexual Health and Contraceptive Use Discussions with Emerging Adults in Rural and Suburban Areas of Colorado

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

This qualitative study, which emerged from a project to document the impact of provision of contraceptives through school-based health centers (SBHCs) within high school settings, describes the experiences of teens and emerging adults living outside urban areas accessing and using contraceptives, and their related experiences discussing sexual health and contraceptive use with peers and family. These first-hand accounts of teens’ and emerging adults’ experiences can assist practitioners working to fill teens’ contraceptive needs – particularly in rural and suburban areas.
